Timekeepers WatchGecko Look to the Future with Shopify Partner Onstate

Over a decade ago, watch enthusiast Jon Quinn outgrew his eBay store and transitioned into the world of ecommerce with WatchGecko. 

Today, as one of the global go-tos for watch accessories, WatchGecko requires a website that can keep pace with the company’s growth ambitions.

After realising the potential of the Shopify platform, WatchGecko approached ShopifyPlus Partner Onstate given their expertise on the platform and experience of migrating clients from Magento to Shopify. 

Onstate co-founder Chris Marshall was quick to identify areas for improvement: 

“Pedestalling the product with high quality images and USPs so it could be admired, appreciated and added to cart with ease was one of the first changes we made. The quality of their products needed to be brought back to the fore.”

“From here, it was more of a case of getting to grips with WatchGecko as a business. We held a range of workshops to assist our understanding. One of the most fruitful being with their customer service team who outlined issues offline, so we could adapt online.”

Following this, a successful migration from Magento 2 to Shopify Plus was completed whilst retaining strong organic rankings. All customer accounts and order histories were carried over and product data was restructured to further boost user experience and SEO performance. 

Beyond that, Onstate looked for more bespoke solutions and integrations to future-proof the performance and success of the store.

“With content playing such a pivotal role in WatchGecko’s rise to the top, we had to make sure it was woven through the fabric of the site. To aid with conversion rate, we made further UX and UI improvements to allow customers ways of finding products and purchasing them at speed.” 

“Boost Commerce was utilised for improved search and filtering, Rebuy for up-sell and cross-sell opportunities and product recommendations. And to unlock the power of CRM and email marketing even further we moved from Mailchimp to Klaviyo.”
