Yorkshire ecommerce agency Onstate have successfully launched another Shopify store for a new brand looking to capitalise on the resurgence of house plants.
Prickle wanted to use their know-how to deliver quality house plants into people’s homes, so anyone, anywhere can build their own green oasis.
The plant people have ambitions of combining online plant purchasing with care tips, plant pots, tools and other accessories, in a growing market. For this, a smart ecommerce solution would be required. One that enables their in-house team to utilise a component-led Shopify build, in order for content and imagery to be the hero at the same time as being easily interchangeable.
For Shopify Plus Partners, Onstate, this was an opportunity to deploy the features of the recently released Shopify 2.0 ‘Sections Everywhere’ update.
In addition to the build, Onstate were also briefed with digitising the brand. Brand guidelines were elevated with character and personality which transitioned onto the site with unique UI enhancements and bespoke iconography.

“When we received the brief from the Prickle team, we knew this was a project that was aligned to our agency; a heavily creative remit alongside utilising the latest developments of the Shopify platform.
“We created solutions to allow the brand to continuously evolve over time, in a user-friendly way, with layout and product building options. This enables the client to communicate new messages and products to their customers through bespoke content blocks, without any delay.
“More importantly, the plants had to be prioritised and showcased. Customers will be making purchases based on the quality of the plants and how they’re presented. Demonstrating them alongside easy to absorb and useful information should allow users, novice or expert, to make quick and informed decisions - this is where our UX and UI expertise really come to the fore.”
Prickle are the latest in a fleet of brands making the move to direct-to-consumer with Onstate making the most of the uptake with established and start-up businesses looking to trade online, and particularly, the Shopify platform.
