A family with over 60 years experience in the made-to-measure blinds industry were ready to cut out the middleman and digitise blinds for a new business venture. The requirement was to be able to buy blinds online and get them delivered to your door. And Onstate were tasked to deliver it all - from the ground up.
Ethos, ambition and industry insight, were outlined and understood in a series of workshops with the client. Onstate now knew how to position the new brand and utilise the team to maximise its potential.
Onstate loves a bit of brand building. To position a newbie in a crowded marketplace, required a disruptive look and feel. We aimed to create an identity that echoed the functional approach of a brand like IKEA but with Made’s softer side.
Using a simplistic design language, that’s heavily typographical and not over-engineered, and clear messaging that’s to the point but not without personality, we developed an identity that translates across all digital channels and platforms.
Other areas of Onstate influence involved art-direction and commission of the CGI lifestyle and product images as well as bespoke iconography and illustration styles.
With made-to-measure blinds comes a lot of pricing variables. A solution was to design and build a custom app to help support the dynamic pricing. It’s done in an easy-to-use spreadsheet where changes immediately appear on the web store, enabling Shopify to make any product available at any price.
The completeness and integrity of product data would be key. So we further developed a custom PIM by integrating Shopify with Airtable and gave it a user-friendly interface. And to ensure a seamless connection to Blind4You’s fulfilment partners, we also developed an EDI integration.
Onstate devised a full digital marketing plan from pre-launch with an outlook for the year ahead. It included the set-up, design and creation of social channels, email templates and PPC campaigns, as well as a SEO content strategy. Through continuous analysis, the team have utilised dedicated platforms to identify audiences and revenue streams and in return have seen some great results since inception last year.
