BetterYou is an innovative natural health company specialising in the supplementation of the growing number of key nutrients lost through our dramatically changing diet and lifestyle. BetterYou approached us in 2020 looking to move away from their ageing Magento 1 store, as they sought to take advantage of the flexibility and scalability of Shopify Plus.
Brief
Phase 1 of the project has involved the replication of the existing store on Shopify Plus. This has involved the recreation of the existing UI, migration of tens of thousands of user accounts and orders and the implementation of advanced promotions via Shopify Scripts.

Content Migration
BetterYou generates lots of quality content. Previously managed on a customised Wordpress implementation alongside the Magento store, we migrated content into Shopify’s native blog. We added extra functionality such as shortcodes to enable the tight integration of content with products.
Data Migration
Order and customer data was migrated from Magento to Shopify. As the migration of customer passwords is not possible, we created and sent account reactivation emails to all registered customers, creating an opportunity for shoppers to re-engage.
I have been really impressed with Onstate since we started working with them on our Magneto 1.9 to Shopify Plus migration. From our initial brief and discovery meetings they understood our requirements exactly and worked to accommodate our rather aggressive timescales. Throughout the project, it has been managed incredibly well and I would be happy to recommend them to anyone.
Promotions
We created custom Shopify Scripts to enable BetterYou to offer free products to customers who purchase an at-home test kit. The Shopify implementation avoids some of the compromises made under Magento.
Phase 2
Now that the migration is complete, we’re looking forward to engaging our design team on a complete overhaul of the store's UI.
